Introducing Speaker Notes - Your script, off the record

TL;DR - Tight Studio now has a floating Speaker Notes window. It stays visible on screen while you record, but it’s automatically excluded from the recording. Write your script, glance at your notes, and your viewers never see them.

The problem with winging it

Most screen recordings are better with a plan. Maybe you’re walking through a feature for your team, recording a product demo, or explaining a bug fix. You know what you want to say - but once the recording starts, it’s easy to lose your place, skip a step, or ramble.

The obvious workaround is to put your notes in a text editor on a second monitor, or stick them on a Post-it next to your screen. Neither is great. You end up glancing off-camera, losing your train of thought, or just forgetting to check them altogether.

How Speaker Notes work

Speaker Notes is a floating window that sits alongside your recording controls. Type or paste your script, hit record, and the window stays visible on your screen the entire time - but it never shows up in the final video. Tight Studio automatically excludes it from the capture.

To open it:

  1. Open the recording controls
  2. Click the Advanced Options menu
  3. Toggle Show speaker notes

A separate window appears next to your recording controls. Type your notes, and they’re ready when you are.

Save multiple scripts

You can save up to 10 scripts and switch between them. Each script auto-saves as you type, and the title is pulled from the first line of your notes. If you record different types of content - product walkthroughs, internal updates, customer demos - you can keep a script for each and switch before you hit record.

Always visible, never recorded

The Speaker Notes window floats above other windows, so it stays accessible no matter what app you’re recording. When the recording starts, Tight Studio captures everything on your screen except the Speaker Notes window. You see your notes. Your viewers don’t.

Available to everyone

Speaker Notes are available on all plans, including Free. Download Tight Studio and try it on your next recording.
