Why convert an animated GIF to MP4?
H.264 video usually stores animation more efficiently than GIF, so an MP4 can be much smaller while remaining easy to play in modern browsers, presentation apps, and social platforms.
Does the MP4 keep the GIF animation and timing?
Yes. The converter turns the GIF frames and their display timing into a video timeline. The resulting MP4 has a fixed duration, however, and does not carry the GIF loop setting.
Will the MP4 loop automatically?
Not by itself. GIF files can contain a loop instruction, but MP4 does not use that same metadata. Enable looping in the video player, webpage, or social platform where you publish it.
Does GIF transparency work in MP4?
No. Standard H.264 MP4 video does not preserve a GIF alpha channel, so transparent areas become opaque during conversion. Use a format with alpha support if transparency is essential.
Is my GIF uploaded to Tight Studio?
No. The page downloads a WebAssembly conversion engine on first use, then reads and converts your GIF inside the browser. Your source file is not sent to an upload service.
How large a GIF can I convert?
There is no server upload limit, but browser memory and device speed still matter. Long, high-resolution GIFs can take substantial memory; if the tab runs out of memory, try a smaller file or a desktop video editor.
