Frequently asked questions
How precise are the start and end times?
You can enter times to hundredths of a second. Video is made of discrete frames, so the final boundary may land on the nearest encoded frame rather than an infinitely precise instant.
What format does the trimmed video use?
The download is an MP4 with H.264 video in the widely supported yuv420p pixel format. If you keep audio and the source has an audio track, the first track is converted to 128 kbps AAC.
Can I remove the audio while trimming?
Yes. Turn off “Keep audio when available” before trimming. The resulting MP4 will contain video only.
Does trimming reduce quality?
The selected section is re-encoded so the tool can make accurate cuts across MP4, MOV, and WebM inputs. This is a lossy operation, using a practical quality setting that balances clarity, size, and browser processing time.
Are subtitles, chapters, and metadata preserved?
No. This focused tool exports the first video track and, optionally, the first audio track. It does not copy subtitles, chapters, location data, cover art, or other source metadata.
Is my video uploaded to Tight Studio?
No. The page reads the video and runs a WebAssembly media engine inside your browser. Large or long files can still be limited by your device speed and browser memory.
